Climbing New River Gorge + Me = Mountain Magazine

One of my favorite publications, Mountain Magazine, just featured my article about climbing in the New River Gorge. It's my first national magazine spot and although it's just online, it's a step in the right direction. This is the second mention in this magazine — the first was an interview for a skiing article they did — but this is my first time my own work has made it this far.

Whew. It's taken a long time of figuring out how to get here. And it was absolutely unnecessary. If only I had stopped being afraid of not doing it right and realized how simple it actually was, I could have used all that extra time actually writing. All I needed to do was ask instead of wasting time researching researching, researching.

I'm not a pro at being an author, obviously, but I'll offer a tip from what I've learned so far from making your ideas reality: Get on it. Do your studying so you at least know the basics, but then just put yourself out there. There comes a time when you gotta stop hiding behind mounds of prep-work, saying you're working on your dream. If you don't take the action step, you're never gonna run.
