The following is an unedited, stream-of-consciousness personal journal used to experiment with different subjects outside of assignments and to practice free-writing. It shouldn't (at all) be viewed as a portfolio of polished work.

Blog gone awry

I imported my blog and it went crazy. Posts didn't show up, posts got new dates, comments were deleted, etc. This seems to happen to me a lot. Maybe I should stop messing with it since I'm not very successful in that arena.

Maybe I'll just mess with it some more until it works.

Mario Kart Love Song

Thought some of you would dig this love song all about Mario Kart. You could actually serenade the love of your life with it:

It's October! And... The Reason.

I woke up especially early this morning. I wasn't sure why. I started out the day ("day" used liberally) by un-hibernating the oversized box on my desk and checking my email. If I had been at all logical at this hour, I would have realized no sensible person would have emailed me at 5:00 a.m. But who can be logical when all your sleeping mind can remember is routine?

The darkness of the room dissipated as my computer screen blazed on, glaringly white. Just so you know, it has etched its imprint permanently into my (then) dilated eyes. If you see me, at some future date, reaching for an invisible mouse, that will be me struggling to move the screen off my window. Or my eyes. Consider yourself notified.

Today starts the rest of the year. "Obviously," you say. Au contraire, my dear readers. As many of you know, I choose to ignore what you all term "summer". Spring is only a pre-cursor to this hateful season (I do make an allowance for March, since most of it falls under winter's grace. April is under consideration). September, although containing the date that officially marks the onset of Autumn, often continues in its hellish path, roasting us with diabolical heat. We have had a reprieve from that this September. That is until this past week, when, after being pacified and lulled away into 70° security, the fiendish weather ensnared us in 90°+ temperatures.

No, September shall not cheat me to have me say "All is well in Zion!". I know better. Semptember and all its cronies are conniving, devilish months and I, for one, will not stand for it. As I would with any unholy day, I refuse to recognize these months as part of my calendar. As such, I have been living a gapped existence since the end of winter.

Therefore, I present to you again that "Today starts the rest of the year". Today inaugurates the most beautiful time of year; the most spectacular and festive time of year. October is accompanied by a cornucopia of goodness; in this month we find the onset of life's most generous blessings. Included are: months of permanently pleasant weather*, holidays, family, terrific food, free candy, and altogether a celebration of life and happiness.

I realized, after my vision was stained by a million white pixels, that this was the reason I had awoken early. Instinct. I needed my computer to awaken my mind to a fact which was located in the right corner of my taskbar:

Wednesday, October 01, 2008. 5:08 AM.

Happy Rest of the Year, everyone!!

*Those of you who know me will know my definition of "pleasant weather". For the uninformed, "pleasant weather" incorporates a few different categories: Good weather can be deemed anything below 75°F; Great weather is anything below 75°F and raining; Optimal weather is anything below 32°F and a whiteout with gale force winds.
